Wind Energy Growth + Electric Cars Growth = Better Planet ?

A few interesting stories:
  1. Wind Energy in the US grows by 39% : Key stat: "The nation’s wind turbines generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of 9.7 million homes, according to the report."  This is very heartening news i.e. 10% of electricity from US homes could come from Wind.
  2. China continues to invest in clean energy and is the world's largest wind energy producer
  3. Electric Car launches from major car manufacturers including GM's Volt , Hyundai's i10 , Nissan's Leaf  , BYD's Electric Car and many more
  4. Of course, the key in an all these electric cars is the batter itself and with key players making major improvements. Here is an initial list of electric car battery manufacturers . But this doesnt include efforts from Tesla's own battery initiatives in San Jose , Sony getting into the act (read the last few lines) & Andy Grove pushing Intel to make electric car batteries!
All in all, I am hopeful that most of the energy for cars, in the "medium future" would ultimately come from Wind or some other renewable energy!
